Torque arm install tips

Ok, i'm trying to get the torque arm back on my 95 Z28 Convertible and I'm having problems. I've got a jack under the rear end to tilt it down but I can't seem to tilt it enough to slip the torque arm on to get the bolts in.

Any tips?

Open the front bushing clamp and take the TA out of it. Mount the rear of the TA on the rear axle assembly. Then pull the front of the TA down and fit it in the front bushing clamp.

Re: Torque arm install tips

Thanks for the tip. The TA is not mounted in the bushing. It is completely loose now. I've not been able to get the TA over the mounts on the differential even though I have put a jack under the diff and tilted it. I can't get the front of the TA high enough in the transmission tunnel to line the TA up with the diff.

I've seen a post that said to undo the shocks and springs but I've not had to do that before. I feel like I'm missing some trick as I removed and installed the TA a few times before.

Thanks again.

You shouldn't have to unbolt the shocks. Try to figure out a way to pry the front of the rear end down, but you can usually get it by jacking up the rear as you stated.

Thanks for the reply. I thought I was doing it right. I'll start back on it today and figure a way to get it on.
