I read instructions on how to bleed the clutch hydrolics and i says to depress the slave clylinder rod and then put the cap and diaphram on the resivor.

Since i took that cap off do i need to depress the rod before i put it back on?

Taking the cap off the reservoir to say, check fluid level, has no effect on the system.
