throwout bearing...replaceable?

throwout bearing...replaceable?

mine just broke and i was wondering if i can replace just the bearing and do i have to take the pressure plate off (looks like i do but i'm not sure) to do it?

yes you will have to remove the pressure plate. take the c-clip off from the side in the picture, then the throwout comes out from the other side.T/O bearings are about $100, for an extra hundred you can get a replacement OEM clutch set from advance or autozone. IMO if your gonna have to take it out anyway, you might as well spend the extra $100 and replace everything

clutch is less than a year and a half old.

either way your still gonna have to pull the pressure plate and like i said the throwout goes for $100 and change alone. its your choice and YOUR car but if it was me i would replace it all then there are no worries later. how many miles in that 1 1/2 years?

40k at the most. i live in canada and a "cheap" clutch is like $600.

thats crazy. i can do down to advance auto right now and get a clutch ordered and have tommorrow for $220 including tax. what are the prices for T/O bearings up there? i also wonder how much it would cost for someone to buy it for you here in the states and ship it to you?

that looks like a mcleod clutch.....i have never had any luck with autozone or advanced
