Three Rivers LT1/LS1 Aluminum Driveshaft

Will a Three Rivers LT/LS Aluminum Driveshaft fit into a 97 Z28 with A4 and 12 Bolt Moser...direct replacement?

The Moser 12-bolts are inconsistant.... sometimes a stock length driveshaft works, sometimes you need a different length. Not what you wanted to hear. If you already have the Moser 12-bolt installed, are you using the stock driveshaft?

It will also depend on what u-joint the Moser pinion shaft is set up for. The Strange 12-bolt requires a 1350 u-joint, and the stock driveshaft has (I believe) a 1310 or a 1320 joint. If you have enough HP to require the 12-bolt, you should use a 1350 joint.

Fred thanks for the reply! I appreciate your insight always. Yes I have the 12 bolt installed, and not sure if it is stock driveshaft or not, it is steel, but I do believe it has 1350 joints if I recall. I did measure and the aluminum shaft is 41" from center of joint to center of joint. Also, not sure but curious if this aluminum shaft will take 1350 joints or not...gonna have to research. Any additional comments Fred will be greatly appreciated!

You can use one.... I ran my stock DS with the Strange 12-bolt, and the Strange came with the conversion u-joint. But the joint isn't going to be any stronger than the weakest side. For hgher HP applications, a solid (no lube passage drilling) joint is the best bet.

Fred that was my first thought too that the weak link would be the smaller side of a conversion joint. Thanks for confirming that for me.

Re: Three Rivers LT1/LS1 Aluminum Driveshaft

Well after much reading, researching I am gonna stick with my steel shaft with 1350 solid u joints in it. Maybe down the road I will go with chrome molly shaft such as the one you have Fred. Until then I sure do not want to take the chance of snapping one when I am not gaining much from aluminum versus steel at this point. Appreciate once again your insight.
