TH400 trans - help please

someone in my area has a 400 trans out of a 1965 caddy, its freshly rebuilt , will this work with my LT1 genII motor?

someone told me i just need an adapter plate to mount to chevy motors.. i dont want to buy it and then be wrong lol.

I don't know anything specifically about the Caddy TH400's of that era..... but you need to make sure the bolt pattern on the bell housing area for Chevy/GMC engines.


There are two versions of TH400's/350's... one that fits Chevy engines & one for Buick Olds, & Pontiac.... I do not know where Caddy fits into this, but my gut tells me it would be the B.O.P.
version, especially since someone told you you would need an adapter plate.


IMO considering that the correct chevy pattern units are a dime a dozen, I would walk away from this one unless it was almost free... then I would sell it to get a Chevy pattern trans

yea. im definately walking away, sounds too weird, besides im better off getting one that i know is for a chevy, im going to want to keep this trans for some time thanks guys.
