about how much are you guys paying for gears(installed)i talked to the guy that did my trans rebuild for me and he said that he could do the whole thing(gears(3:42),bearings,installation,etc)for $450.00.does this sound about right?thanx!

450 is generous. I paid at jobber cost 300 for ring and pinion, all bearings shims, wheel bearings, blah blah. Luckily i work for tq midget and my friend/driver helped me do the install at the shop. All in all took 3 hours of a relaxed pace, smoking cigars and bs'ing and all. Took 9 tries to get the backlash and pinion depth just perfect. but perfect is the ONLY way. make sure the mechanic isnt just swapping gears and making his best guess.

 

Considering new gears cost about $200 that means $250 is for install. That sounds about right. Now if your supplying the gears and $450 is install price then that is very pricey unless it includes a tune to correct speedo afterwards.

 

You can expect to pay anywhere from $150.00 to $300.00. I would not base who installs your gears on price but on experience. If gears are not set properly you will encounter alot of whine plus it will affect the longetivity of your gears.
