TH400 swap cost?
TH400 swap cost?
I'll be going from T56 to th400 and I know some of you have looked into/done this. What kind of total price am I looking at with convertor and vss. I'll be getting the tranny from Rossler and if i'm not mistaken the tranny is $1299 with core. I figure about $800 for the convertor. I did use the search feature BTW.

Well, what costs are you looking for? You've already priced a tranny and converter. As with these items, the other stuff you will need is going to vary a lot in price depending what parts you choose. If this isn't a DIY project, labor costs will be variable depending on who does it, what part of the country you are in, etc. Quality professional work around here is $70-75/h, it's much less in some areas and a bit more in others. But there are folks who work for a lot less, usually people doing this stuff part time or after hours.
Here's the other parts you need and about what I remember paying. I tend to get high quality (= expensive) parts. I paid a lot more than you are planning on the tranny and converter, for instance. If you don't already have a chassis mounted torque arm, you will need this as well.
Shifter ~$170
Cooler ~$170
Dipstick ~$75
VSS ~$120
Flexplate ~$100
Driveshaft ~$350
Pan ~$75
Pedal assy. (used, you can keep your three pedal assy if you wish) ~$50
Misc (fluid, shipping, beer, bandaids) ~$100
So, you should have another $1,200 or so in parts plus a torque arm, if needed. As far as labor, I'd say there's a days work in it or so for an experienced mechanic. Multiply by your local rate.

I guess I shoulda been more specific. What I really meant to ask was "What else will I have to buy"....what I knew I had to buy they didn't list prices on...like vss etc... Thanx for the help...that about covers it.
