th400 Blowbroof bellhousing, on a 96 Z,lt1

Im planning on doing a th400 or 350 tranny swap this winter. At one of my stops today, tranny dhop, a guy was showing me a blowproof bellhousing for the 400 trannys. I noticed that it was quite a bit thicker than the stock bellhousing, Is anyone running one of these? Will it clear the tunnel and can I still get the bolts in the bellhousing without much "massaging". I figures this would be the time do do this beings how Im not going to run a midplate, if that is even possable. Thanks

If its the JW Ultra Bell, it fits fine. As I recall, there was some machine work done to the bell to match the TH400 case I had. But I had a shop do the install, with the trans.

Thanks, Im not sure which brand Im going with. I think they all will work. This one had 2 ears sticking up for a pontiac that will have to be chopped off definatly.

The back of a Pontiac (B-O-P) engine does not have the same bolt pattern as a Chevy. The bellhousings are not interchangable.

Yeah I realize that, But this bellhousing had mounting holes accomidated for both. The guy at the tranny shop said that some cut the 2 pontiac ears off beings how they stuck up another 1 inch from the housing and could cause clearance issues. But je also said that it will sometimes cause you trouble with the sfi certification. But Im sure if I go with one Ill find a brand that is not a multi application housing

I have one on the TH400 in my 94Z. It fits fine, little bit of massaging the second bolt up on the drivers side but thats it.
