TH350 Problems continue...plz help
I made a post a couple weeks ago about my transmission stuck in drive, though since I've had time to play with it further I have realized some more things, hopefully someone can make something out of this.
Today I took the transmission pan off. The fluid was in nice shape, not burnt or anything. There was a few(5 or 6) small pieces of metal mixed in with the grit from the clutches in the pan(I haven't taken the pan off in the 2 years I've had the transmission, I was told it had 10-15k miles on it). I cleaned it up and looked at the shift linkage on the inside, looks ok. I don't know alot about transmissions but everything looks to be moving the way it should be, so I put the cleaned pan back on, added the clean transmission fluid(I drained it into a new drain pan so I could reuse it, it had about 10 miles on it) back in, crank the car up in PARK. The wheels are driving and there's a loud clicking, almost grinding every complete rotation of the driveshaft.
I then put it in reverse, the transmission clicked, the tires stopped moving, but didn't start going in reverse. I got in the car and rev'd the engine and could not get it to go above 2k rpm, this is with the pedal floored and the rpm will not budge. So I put it in neutral, same thing, tires not rotatinh and I can't get the engine to go above 2k. I put it into drive and the tires move like normal and the engine goes up in rpm past 2k, I don't believe it was shifting gears though. I don't know anything about transmissions, I'd do just about anything to keep from having to pull this thing out for a new one. This car has been in my back yard for 2 years now and I just want to drive it. Any suggestions would be great, thanks.
