th350 performance fluid reccomendation
ok guys, i did my tranny swap back over christmas, and this weekend i put a deep pan and aux. cooler in. i havent refilled the system yet, and i was wanting to know should i use regular type F (what the shop said), Dexron III (Autozone's advice) or step up to a synthetic like what i heard from the guy that owns a local hot rod parts place said? i already have enough quarts of b&m trick shift that would do the trick that came from another project that fell through. any opinions? this is a moderate street machine w/ about 360hp at the flywheel with a 2200 stall if that makes a differance.
Re: th350 performance fluid reccomendation
Your transmission came with dexron and should have it put back in. Type F has no place in a th350. Synthetic fluid is great but comes at a price (5+ per quart for a quality product). With regular service and a good cooler you shouldn't need synthetic unless your towing in the summer or hot lapping a car with a transbrake. The trick shift is OK if you allready have it but don't expect miracles as it is mostly hype. I recommend the cheapest parts store brand you can find ( AS LONG AS IT IS LABLED MADE IN USA). Exxon-Mobile makes over 80% of the worlds ATF supply which is relabled for many vendors including Advance Auto Parts. You learn all kinds of things when your wife is an engineer for the worlds largest oil company.
