TH-350 question

Im putting a built TH-350 behind my 406 instead of the R4 cause I dont need OD, for a trailer queen. It will be with a 3500+ convertor. Prety strong set up
My delima is that i bought the tranny already for the build-up, but I got one that has the MV-4 code I think. I bought a book and it says that its a TCC convertor tranny. 3rd gear only I think. But I have no use or desire for lock-up. Plus all the high end buildup kits in Summit, say non-lockup only.
What Im wondering is, can I just buy a regular convertor, and a normal non-lock up rebuild kit and it will work, do I have to have modifications done to the tranny for it to work with a non-lockup convertor? Or do I just need to scrap this one and get another one?

ACTUALLY the Lock-up would be nice for extra MPH on the top end.
Either way you can convert that one to non-lock-up.
The easiest way to tell if you have a lock-up unit if there is a electrical plug in on the driver side of the trans. second is the a small smooth section sticking out of the input shaft past the splines.
Good luck!

ok??
The only thing that cost more is the Converter.
Every thing else cost about the same? Only thing that could toss a curve at you is if the input shaft is toast?
every basic part in a TH350 and a TH350C is the same save for the case, input, converter and extra VB for lock-up.
TransGo has a nice HP shift kit for them now also.
I see no reason not to use what you have unless you just do not want lock-up?
As I stated you can convert the one you have at an extra cost to stanard TH350 by changing the pump, input shaft and using a Supirior VB kit.
Also TH350C units usually have more bearings in them using less HP to run them.
In the end it is your choice. I am just offering options to the un-known and solutions to your problem

In all the catalogs Ive looked in Ive never seen a serious race ready rebuild kit, or 3500+ stall equipped for lock-up.
It just seems like it would be more beneficial to get rid of it.
Do you have links to someone who would sell the components, so I can compare prices?
If not does anybod know the actual process for getting rid of it? What has to be done?

What is the benefit of having it non lockup? I know a lot of guys who set their tranny in 4l60e cars to lockup at midway through 3rd gear and WOT...usually they see a couple mph better in trap speed. It would seem a non lockup would just create more heat and a couple hp loss form the "slipping" of the non lockup converter.
