TCC Lockup

I am having a problem with a fairly new transmission setup; by fairly new I mean there is less then 5k miles on my ProBuilt 700R4 and 9.5 Vigilant locking Torque Converter. From what I have read and been told the problem lies within the ECM. The condition is that on a full throttle runs at high RPMs (3.5k ~ 4k) the car feels like it has a massive loss of power through the described RPM range. After 4.5k RPMs the car starts hauling *** once again. This problem is related to the TCC locking up or trying to lockup, the reason I know this is because I disconnected the TCC harness on the side of the transmission and the condition went away. I cant feel this condition in 1st or 2nd gear not say if the problem is or isn’t there. For a quick fix and so I don’t frag my converter, I am going to put a TCC interrupt switch in place. Where I need help is with the prom of the ecm. I know TunerCat makes software and definition file for the 870 ecm, which is in my car. Does anyone else make software for the 870. Also do anyone you prom tuners sell you chips?

The car
85 Camaro IROCZ
Pro Built 700R4 Road Race Transmission
9.5” PI Vigilant Torque Converter (3k Stall)
B&M 13x9x2 with fan Trans Oil Cooler
3.42 axle ratio

You might try posting this in the Drivetrain forum. Trans guys hang out there, and you'll probably get more responses. I suspect that it will get moved by a moderator if you don't.

Good luck.

Added:

Did you ask the trans rebuilder and Vigilante about your problem? I'd start there. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Anyone?

When I went from TPI to carb, I diteched my computer and had a friend make a manual switch for the TCC lockup. I can turn it on of off, however the cool feature built into these cars is when you hit the brake, the TC unlocks automatically, or when the car is in first gear. So I can basically go into gas saver/be quiet around cops mode just by flipping a switch, turbing it off completely unlocks it. On the highway, locking it drops RPM about 300rpm and there is a LOT less heat built up.

Tonight at the track I practiced launching unlocked and locking it right while going into third gear. JUST by doing this I gained back the 7 MPH I lost just by installing this converter. It's very mis matched to my 305's powerband, especially on nitrous. It was a 4200 Vigilante built for a buddies 396 stroker/nitrous motor and my little 305 only flashes it to 3700 and on the top end of the track, it's completely past my powerband. By locking the converter up, it dragged the engine down into the powerband again...Personal Best ET and MPH result.. he he he.

Is it possible to disable the factory TCC control and just run the Painless Wiring lockup kit? Just an idea, goodluck.
