Question T56 Fluid change

Hi,
What are the Do and Don'ts
Please check/Validate my process. How much of fluid I will need ?
Dexron III = ?
Friction Modifer= ?
For my T56 Transmission fluid change.
Unbolting bolts from Passenger side of the transmission and then driver's side.
Do I add friction modifier for quitter syncros ?
Then undo the shifter and added from there ?
Any tips or corrections ?

Re: T56 Fluid change

Use regular DEX 3
No friction modifier
drain plug is rear, fill is DS

You can buy cheap fluid bottle pump that screws on regular qt. size DEX 3 bottles to fill easily

4 qts of DEX 3

you can fill through the shifter hole if you want...although a lot of unneeded work

Re: T56 Fluid change

Dexron ATF includes friction modifiers. Nothing else needed. Tremec (purchased T56 design and manufacturing from Borg-Warner) recommends Dexron III. They do not indicate additional friction modifier is required.

Shoebox has the T56 manual available for download. Drain/refill is covered in section 1, fluid in Section 6.
