i know that with a mustang you can take the tranny from a 4 or 6 cylinder and bolt them to a v8.... does anyone know if you can do the same with the camaros?

If you're talking about the T5 from a 4th gen F-body, then I'm pretty sure the bellhousing bolt pattern is different. A 5-speed from a 3rd gen that was originally behind a 305 will bolt up, but it's not particularly strong.

If you have your heart set on a 5-speed, your best bet would be a TKO 500.
