t-handle question

as it states...i have a 99 z28 6 speed and have been trying to get a regular t-handle shifter on there due to not having the funds to get the short throw right now however want a little better throw so i went to pep boys and got the b & m t-handle and it's too small for my shifter along with the hurst one at o'reilly's...now my friend 2 years ago had a 94 formula that the hurst fit but the b & m didn't so I was wondering what all you guys that have the t-handle were doing...thanks

I had to redrill and tap mine to fit the metric thread. I also had to remove, heat, and rebend the stick to get a good comfortable feel with the T handle. Mine's perfect now.

right on man, i was afraid of drilling and re-tapping, but oh well, gotta do what ya gotta do, so did you bend it toward the back seat? or toward you as well...

Actually my shifter is a B&M ripper (but it has the same thread as a stocker). I had to put a double bend in mine to get the T handle to be more parallel with the floorboard. Without the bends, the handle was at some funky angle that put my wrist in a slight twist and felt nasty. I bracket race this car heavily so a perfect feel was very important to me. Don't really know what you'll have to do with a stocker.

so the b&m ripper i wouldn't have to get tapped or anything so it's just the same thread or did you have it drilled and tapped so that it has the same threads...if it's the same thread without drilling and tapping where can i get one?

Nope, You'll have to drill and tap the T handle with either the stock shifter or the B&M
