T-56 Tranny help Please
Re: T-56 Tranny help Please
AFAIK there is machining required, it's not a drop-in-replacement.
D&D wants $800 for the shaft, reluctor ring, and to maching the tailshaft housing to accept the new driveshaft seal and bushing, as well as the required viper yoke.

I don't know what's required actually as for machining of the shaft and tail-housing.
And I doubt a tranny shop would have the Mill and Lathe required, more like an engine shop. The hard part is knowing what dimensions to machine the shaft and housing too.
I'm most likely going to by the shaft, ring, bearing, and seal from D&D, and see if they'll tell me what I need to machine for the tail-housing (I have access to a Mill where I can do this), and get a Billet Yoke from my drivetrain place (Denny's Driveshafts is local for me)

You do not have to machine the shaft. But you do have to cut a little off of it. Most any machine shop should be able to do the work on the tail shaft.
Good luck getting any of the parts needed from D&D. They want you to buy thier kit for $800.
