Post T-56 potential problem? please help!

Hello. I am relatively new to being a z28 owner but someone please help. I just bought a 94 z28 5.7 6spd manual trans. 117k miles. Here's my problem. Shifting from 1st to 2nd at a lower rpm is shifting from 1st to 4th. But shifting from 1st to 2nd at a higher rpm shifts into 2nd normally. All other gears work fine. I was told that its a common prob with my typw of z28 and that a simple "$75 wire harness" is all that neaded to bypass this stock problem. Is this true? Can someone please tell me what's going on if this is true or not. Or should I worry... thank you
Jim

In reguards to the harness that bypasses the "skip shift" feature. How much do they generally run for? And what are they called exactly?

Do a search on skip shift. You can do it much cheaper. All you need is a resistor. 2.2 k if I recall correctly.
