yeah i got the 4.10s in there too..tires asnd new...it caught fine...i it happend when i was shifting from 2nd to third at 6500rpms...and the tires were spinning from the stop....just made a big bang..now a series of them when its in gear....and its comin from the rear

i think its a 3 series...now i just need to find someone to put a eaton posi in for me and ill be all set..thanks guys for tryin to help my stupid *** out..lol

The vibrations will travel up the driveshaft and torque which will sound like its coming from the tranny.

I had a similar problem with a messed up rear-end. I could even feel the vibrations in the shifter.

To throw in my 2 cents, I had the same thing when I blew my rear. First, I thought it was the tranny, because I could hear and feel it through the shifter. Then I figured out the same thing what TravProcharged94Z said...I always had gear whine (Richmonds ) but there was an additional, much lower "howling" or growling sound. Sorry I can't describe it better

But my bet would be some teeths missing on your pinion or ring gear...but why you just don't take off the diff cover and have a look inside? It's a 5 min job...
