i just got done putting on a new rear diff cap and was looking over the bottom of my 3rd gen and was looking at the tranny and on the left side of it there is a rather large bolt by itself. i noticed that it was loose and for some reason tried to take it out but it wouldn't come all the way out so but it back in. so when i get my car of the lift and go to back it out, i notice the shifter is completely locked up and will not move. so i rasied the car back up and took that bolt out some more until the shifter could go through each gear but when i tried to back it out it didn't go anywhere but it will still go forward. so i some how messed up the reverse linkage and reverse doesn't work. so can i fix this my self or am i screwed and now have to take out my tranny and take it all apart? it wouldn't be that bad if i have to take it out because it needs rebuilt anway

 

That sounds simmalr to what happened to my friend's 88 Formula, we worked for hours trying to fix it but reverse was gone. He ended up just getting another t-5 and calling it good.
