strengthening 10 bolt
strengthening 10 bolt
Does a rear end girdle really strengthen up your rear end? Like the T/A rear end girdle, is it worth the money? Or should I just wait and buy a 12 bolt when the 10 bolt breaks? Thanks
Re: strengthening 10 bolt
It'll help prevent flexing of the case and bearing caps. Stepping up to a 12 bolt or 9 inch is a better route if you plan on hitting the rear end with much more power than stock. If you don't want or need to spend the money on a stronger rear end at least spend the money on the girdle. It's a cost effective way to strengthen your stock rear end to a point.
FWIW My car has the aluminum rear end cover(no bearing cap bracing)that was installed by SLP and I've hit it with way more than it was intended to see. It's a 6 speed and I've used every tire short of drag slicks without blowing it up. I'm not going to push my luck by trying slicks though. Pretty sure I know how that story will end!
