Street Twin Problems

It all started back on the 23rd of July. I was heading to the local drag strip trying out my new 26x11.5x16 ET Street tires, and noticed that the car was starting to shift hard. Well in 5 runs I got in the car didn't want to go into 3rd gear without grinding. I got the car out of the garage to wash it before the CZ28.com nationals and had a heck of a time getting it back in the garage because it wouldn't go into any gear without grinding. So needless to say the car didn't make it to the nationals. So the first weekend of August I got the car up on jackstands and with the car in 1st gear and with the clutch pushed in the back tires were spinning. I then did some research and found out that I could adjust the master cylinder. I did that some and the tires were spinning much slower, so I did it again and the tires didn't spin at all with the clutch pushed in and I was able to shift into all gears easily. I decided to change the tranny fluid and fix the rear end cover leak that I had for a while since the car was up in the air. Well I got the car down and took it for a drive today. The clutch now doesn't engage until the pedal is almost all the way to the top (I don't really like this, but thought as long as the car drives okay it will be fine). After about 4 miles of normal driving I developed a loud ticking noise coming from the front of the car. The noise is there when ever the engine is running, I am hoping that maybe a bolt or two came loose from the flywheel or something. I didn't do anything to cause the engine to start ticking.

I guess I will have to pull the tranny out this weekend and see what's wrong.

Does anybody have any ideas?

Hmmm.. clutch in or out I take it?

I have had a few cars over the past few years have the bolts from the rear main seal retainer come out. They make all kinds of strange noises.

Other then that I would check all the motor parts like valve train and such.

Good luck!

The clutch is currently in the car.

But when I had it put in, I had the company also replace the rear main seal so maybe they came loose.

Thanks for the idea Ellis!!
