Street Twin installed....loud screaching noise

Ok got the street twin installed. I started the car up and it made a loud screachin sound when it was starting ( i thought starter was rubbin on a flywheel) Well I drove around litte bit, everyting seemed to be fine. Pulled in the garage turned the car off. I decided to go and start the car up again to see if if the ABS light went off. When i went to start it, loud screchin noise again , but it didnt stop once the car was started, it keps makin it and the car idled at like 600rpms(kinda wanted to die). I turned it off, and adjusted the master (pedal pretty much even with the brake pedal) went to start it again and the noise is still there something makes rattleing sounds. I am guessing its the starter not disangaging? how would i go about fixing that? Any wrtie ups with pics or anything? Do i just jam some washers between the starter/block? what kinda clearance should i be looking for? Does my problem sound like a starter? Or maybe a the street twin discs sliping?
Thanks
Marcin

Shim the starter with starter shims. You can use washers, but the starter shims are MUCH easier to work with. They sell them at any parts house.

Also, the TOB will make some noise. Try the shimming first though - had to use ~1/32-1/16" on mine.

does it sound like starter? or something more serious?
I will try the shims once i get home from takin the damn test.
BTW how much space should there be between the starter and the flywheel?
Thanks

Wow, I think that's the same thing that happened to my starter. I was thinking about replacing it. But yeah, this screech only appeared AFTER the McLeod was installed.
