Question Strange 12-bolt question

I just finished changing the fluid in my Strange 12-bolt after the 1000 mile break in period. In the bottom of the case I found about 10 metal pieces that range in size from 1/2"X1/2" down to 1/8"X1/8". All of the pieces are about 1/16" thick and have a conical bend to them. The rear makes no noise, is a 3.73:1 posi, and seems to work fine. Any ideas what the pieces are from? Am I in trouble?

Thank You for any input,

Mike

Have you checked the gears yet. Sounds peices of gear. Have you beat on the car since the rear end was in.

Not Good at all! Call Strange immediately, you've got some serious problems.

Thanks, I'll call Strange on Monday. I don't think these pieces are hefty enough to be from gears.

Sounds more like the tapered rollers from one of the side bearings. But you'd have a ton of noise if you lost a side bearing.

My guess is that it is hunks of side shim that got sheared off and turned into potato chips during assembly.
