stock rearends
for my 02 ws6 (thats with 3:23's for those who don't know)
how well do these typically hold up?
i've had a lt1 and have buddies with them as well... none of us finished our days with those cars without replacing the rear's...
now i realize ANYTHING will break with the proper amount of abuse.. but on an average are they decent rearends? or prone to easy breakage on almost stock power... like the lt1's
i've got et streets... but the cars making maybe 20hp over stock... so not that bad. next in line (IF i do anything else) would be a 3000-3200 stall.
and i realize slicks+stall=bye bye diff.
i am not able to buy a new rearend right now... not PAY for it anyway... but im not gonna risk running a stall and knowingly breaking my rearend so that it can finally go a month after the warranties up (in may)
so how good are they?

Re: stock rearends
ah, theyre pretty much crap. if your gonna be hard on them, you gotta be prepared if something breaks. knowing that the stock unit is a POS, i think i wouldnt be too rough on it.
personally, i think with the auto and power that you have, it would be fine. but there is no way for me to know that for sure. so i dont want to give you false hopes and have it break on you. so its your dime. make the call.

Re: stock rearends
dont even think about rebuilding a stock rear end if you have any thoughts of abusing it in any way....look at the cost of it...1500 plus for all the good parts..posi=400plus.gear 150 plus.axles 300 plus.cover 120 plus,c clip 100 plus.yokes,welding,studs...and all for what ,,something that wont go past 400 hp with having to cross all you fingers..get a 12 bolt or 9 inch for a few hundred more...then you can drop the hammmer w/o worrying
