stock adjustable clutch master

I plan on cutting and threading the stock rod like I have seen a few people on here do to make an adjustable length. If I drain the reservoir can I disassemble the master cylinder still in the car so I dont have to mess with the ubolts? Or am I just going to make a mess?

I think its going to be a pain to disassemble and reassemble the master while still being bolted to the car.
I removed mine to do the mod. The results were well worth the time involved.

After you open up the master, it has to be bench bled.
