stepson fried my 4l60e

my stepson took my 95 z out this weekend, after he drove it i noticed soft shifting 1-2, slipping in 2 and od any ideas on where to start, of course he didnt drive the car hard or do anything abusive. I plan to drop the pan soon and change the filter etc, fluid level is good and smells normal. i would say 15000 miles on a rebuilt trans. is there anything i can check when i have the pan off, anywhere to check on the valve body? any advice at all obviously stepson isnt driving the car anymore so please dont advise that

The PCS is the pressure control solenoid, I would replace it if there no debris in pan it will cause soft no progressive shifts and can happen suddenly ,Of course if thats it would not be stepsons fault but we dont have to tell him that do we lol

There are a few possibilities here. The common link between 2nd and 4th is the 2-4 band. Your complaint sounds like a classic band issue.
Yes, the first step would be to drop the pan. Look for a fine black sediment in the bottom of the pan.
Don't be misled by the fact that it was just rebuilt 15,000 miles ago. We see many band failures (from other builders) before that time.

I don't see this being an electronic issue. If you have any questions, feel free to call me 302-250-1202

Thanks,
Frank

From previous experience, I would also say it's a band issue. I burned a few one time and when I checked the pan there weren't any apparent problems. I then changed the filter and it improved a little, but still had problems so I had it looked at and was informed that the bands were indeed fried.

Don't blame the kid, blame the person who rebuilt your transmission last time. The 2-4 band is common for dying.
