Question LT1 Driveshaft....need to upgrade?! ---

I will be running a le2 package with a 125hp shot of nitrous...I expect to have around 600 crank hp. Using 4.10 gears and a centerforce clutch on a m6. Should I upgrade the driveshaft? What are the benefits of upgrading?!

Should I just get a stock ls1 shaft, or do you have a recommendation for a good setup I should run? Thanks ---

OK, well what about a driveshaft loop? I will be using a UMI torque arm, will the loop still fit fine? Do I need a loop since I will be revving pretty high for safety?! Thanks ---

I wouldn't trust a stock steel DS on a 600HP M6 car doing high RPM launches. The LS1 DS is no better, just lighter because its aluminum. But I've seen 1LE and LS1 DS's snap with less HP than you are talking about.

The "benefits of upgrading" is reducing the probabilty that you will snap the DS and have to have the car trailered home from the track, not to mention the damage that the broken DS will do to the underside of the car. I run a Mark Williams 3" chrome moly DS with solid 1350 U-joints and a billet input yoke.

NHRA requires a DS loop on all cars quicker than 13.99 with slicks and 11.49 with street tires. You would be foolish to run without one with your level of performance.

Fantastic.....you are the best mod ever, I always appreciate your wealth of knowledge, THANKS ---

ps. I see the torque arms WITH the loop on them. Will I be able to put on a 2nd peice UMI ds loop onto my UMI torque arm I already have installed, or should I have went with the 1 peice setup from the beginning??? ---
