Stall Converter?

I have a 2001 SS with the LS1. I am putting LS6 heads and LS6 cam in it. I was wondering if i need to put a stall converter in the car. If so what size stall should i put in it?

My vote is a 3200 vigilante and add some nitto tires. Then, go run the high elevens the car may have in it. Do you have all the bolt ons (headers, etc)?

Re: Stall Converter?

I say go custom. You can get an LS1 converter built just for your car for $400. Check into a company called Fuddle.

You don't need to run a high stall converter on a cam that small, but as stated if you go with a properly speced unit it'll be about 0.5 quicker in the quarter.

Re: Stall Converter?

Thanks guys I really appreciate it. As asked I am putting Long tube headers, off road y-pipe, 1.8 rockers. I have on the car right now hypertech, SLP lid, SLP loudmouth, 3:73 gears. If anyone has anymore information I would appreciate that as well.
Thanks, BILL

Re: Stall Converter?

Just another suggestion, look into Edge Racing converters, they build them to produce less heat than stock, all are custom built for your car. Street edge is what I got, totally amazed, I'm running mid 12's. Another thing is he doesn't rape your wallet either like vig does. Just a thought for ya, when your doing your research.
