SLP vs McLeod single disk vs spec stage 2 clutch

I'm going to buy a T56 conversion for my car and was wondering what clutch I should get. I should be making between 350-375rwhp (111mph trap through a slipping auto). Now I don't want something too grabby or else I know I'll shatter my 10 bolt. I was leaning towards the slp because of price and everyone seems to have liked it when I did the search. This is going to be for a mostly street vehicle with a few visits to the track each year. I want something that grabs, but doesn't grab hard enough to brake my rear end. It also has to be streetable because its my daily driver.

I can't speak for the SLP or the McLeod... but as for the Spec Stage II:

My first impressions of my Stage II were SPEC

My pedal vibrated, and omg the clutch chatter! The chatter was so terrible that it made my Jet - Hots bang agaist my k-member like a jackhammer! Ugh, unbearable! Also... the torsion springs I suspect are not quite right... there is a terrible vibration *noise* that my tranny guy says, he things is from the springs.

My second impression... it's getting better. The chatter still exist but not as often anymore. Sometimes it can be bad, but not all the time (no clue why.. but it's almost like it has moodswings..) It engadges smoother (not great but better) and the pedal vibration as died down (still slightly there).

I've read that the kevlar disk with my stage II could be the problem. They are apparently very tempermental. So my advice is.. don't go with a kevlar disk.

I switched over to A4 because I got tired of changing clutches.
I have 352 RWHP and went through 1 last year,2 this year.
They were all SLP LT1 -LT4 PP and discs.
The problems started when I started using ET Streets they are just too sticky.
Never had a problem while I ran DRs[BFG]
I could have put in a McLeod clutch but with 2800 1/4 mile runs on my tranny I think it would not have taken it.
Figure I was on the edge so went the Built A4 route,it really sucks burning your clutch during big programs.
Good luck with eventual choice.

Thats good news for me since I just ordered the slp. My car will only see the drag strip a few times a year on nitto's and the rest will be street driven with street tires.

Re: SLP vs McLeod single disk vs spec stage 2 clutch

I have had both. When my stock clutch went out i went with the SLP for the price. 5000 miles later i changed it out. It was engaging really really high and i couldn't seem to fix it so i bought the mcleod single disc. But when i dropped the tranny the disc looked fine. I also got the slp PP and the same time i got the SLP clutch. I replaced the PP and Flywheel with a Mcleod unit also the same time i swapped clutches. The problem went away with this setup. 5000 miles later one of the springs broke on my Mcleod clutch. So i called them up and i sent back everything and he sent me a new clutch, PP, and Flywheel. So they have great customer service.

I noticed you already got the SLP though. It is a good clutch. It doesn't grab as well as the Mcleod does but it's pretty close. The Mcleod has a softer pedel though.
