slp short shifter

I was just wondering if anyone has one of these in their car. No one on this fourm seems to talk about them much and talks about the pro5.0 and ripper. For $100 is it worth it with lous short stick or is the pro 5.0 that much better. I just want a shorter shift i am happy with the stock hurst as far as the positive 2nd to 3rd shift pattern. Thanks

The one SLP sells is the same as the factory hurst. The thing that sucks about them is that there are no positive stops. Spend the extra $75 bucks and get the ripper or pro 5.0.

I got my the slp shifter, but yea, it is the same as the factory hurst pretty much...i also have lou's stick to, and i like the setup that it gives me, nice short crisp shifts..Ive never handled a pro 5.0, so i can't tell ya what the difference is there, but I didn't pay a lot, and i feel like i got more than my money's worth, all depends on how much you are willing to spend....one note though, if u do get LSS, and keep your factory shifter, don't pay the extra cash for the stainless version, cuz u can't see it anyways, too much extra boot material..

Just get the Qwik Stick. It's a short shifter like Lous, but straight and $10 cheaper. LM Performance sells them for a guy on the board. The Qwik Stick just appeared in the latest issue of GMHTP. It's under Hardware in the back of the mag. IMO it's close to an aftermarket shifter but less than a third of the cost.

if you already have the hurst from the factory i highly recomend just getting the LSS or similar.

i swapped my crappy stock shifter for a Hurst from an SS, and WHAT a difference and that was with te stock stick. then a year later i bought a LSS and oh my god. i couldn't beleive how firm and chrisp the shifts were.

for a total of $105 (50 for shifter and 55 for stick) which included all shipping i have one hellova shifter. very happy since i'm budget minded.

buy the LSS and see how you like it, cause it is compatable with the Pro 5.0 if you decided to upgrade if the hurst isn't good enough. so it's not going to be money lost.

I've got the SLP shifter with a billet short stick (Jarrod Holland off of Ebay). Never tried anything else, but I like it.

The only thing annoying about the billet stick is that it will transmit clutch chatter. I simply added some thin hard rubber washers to the mounting points for the billet stick and it quieted it back down to the stock stick level. Less than $1 in parts from Lowe's.
