Slipping when flooring it. Help!!!
Slipping when flooring it. Help!!!
About a year ago I had a built 4L60E put into my 94 Z28, with a 2500 stall and an aftermarket trans oil cooler.
Then my 1-2 shift servo gave out after maybe 5 months and I had it replaced by Aamco...I know I know.
Anyway, unfortunately I needed the car back so I took it even though I never authorized the repair. Let by gones be by gones. I wonder if Aamco screwed me?!
Well, now, a few months later at least 5 months, the same servo is acting up again. But, today, when I went to floor it, the car completely downshifted and slipped. It usually, as most of you know, when you floor it at about a 40 mph roll for example, it goes to 1st, winds it out quickly and bangs into 2nd...
Well now, it just slips. I was told that the 1-2 shift servo also controls the 3-4 shift as well.
When the car is driven slowly and nicely (90% of the time) its fine. I usually dont even have to floor it, 75% throttle does it.
Today, I tried to race an Eclipse that revved at me. Not only would car slip but the eclipse tried and could not get me, even slipping and not shifting.
I smelled some minute amounts of burning; My trans temp gauge was a normal temp.
Any ideas, something simple, help?!
Thanks,
Daniel

Re: Slipping when flooring it. Help!!!
I am having the exact same problem. The transmission won't shift out of first gear at WOT, otherwise under normal driving it shifts fine. It shifted fine before I did a heads and cam swap. I had the computer reprogrammed by madz28 and when I got it all back together, it wouldn't shift from first to second until around 7800 rpm.

Re: Slipping when flooring it. Help!!!
my car is a complete bolt on car. No heads or cam, just the usual small stuff.
The annoying thing is this is suppose to be a built trans.
Yours is revving to 7800!!! Wow, and it has not had other problems seeing those revs?
My rev limiter is set to 6200 but its only stopping at 6500. its weird but stopping somewhere.
I hope its an inexpensive fix! I might just go to an M6 to avoid this auto bs. You go thru clutches but at least everyting else works.
Im going to have weigh all the options. Get the car scanned and diagnosed.
Any ideas that you are going to do?

Re: Slipping when flooring it. Help!!!
I am thinking of getting the thing rebuilt to handle what I want to throw at it. There is a guy on here that rebuilds them and comes highly recommended.
Hopefully that will solve the issue for a little cheaper than doing a T-56 swap. I don't have the money anymore to do major things to my car like I used to. Maybe it is something cheap and easy to fix like the tune or something.
