Slip after change to Royal Purple .

Drained the rear yestersay and refilled with RP and GM additive. When I drove it today I noticed its slipping some when I crnak down on the gas. Noticed this in 3rd, 4th and 5th gears. It does grab but noticed the engine will rev about 500 rpm before it catches.
CLutch is a ST and thats been in about 6 months.
I never had this issue until I added the RP. Anyone else experience this?

The rear axle? The rear axle will not cause slippage and higher rpm. If it was in your transmission I can see slippage happening. If you mean the posi slipping then sure, it could happen.

Re: Slip after change to Royal Purple .

After putting 150 miles on it on the highway the clutch slips in all 6 gears. I think it may be coinencedence in that that my Mcleod may need adjustment after serviceing the RE unit. There is no play at the top of the clutch, so I think I am leaving some clamping force on the table.
The clutch seems to be grabbing a lot higher than it was when I put it in now that I think about it. Its nice to have the the ability to adjust the MC with the ST without having to shim up the slave cyclinder.
I've got some clear coat drying on it now, so I'll adjust the MC in a day or 2.

Found the Master Cylinder adjusting nut loose so I readjusted and tightened the MC to engage the clutch sooner off the floor.
No change on slippage. I plan to drain the Royal Purple gear oil and replace with non sythenic today after getting more additive.
I probably need not have had to add the friction modifier to the RP to begin with.

Update:

Drained and saved the RP gear oil and replaced it with DYNO plus friction additive. Still slippage.
Put it on the lift today and shimmed the Slave maybe 3/16ths. This cured the problem but I expected the ST to not wear this fast (@4-5k miles non abusive).

how would the rear end fluid EVER cause your clutch to slip? am I missing something here?

Kinda what I was thinking. The rear end is solid. The only slipping possible in the rear end is the posi which would only make one wheel spin.

werd. There was no reason to change the rear end fluid to try and solve the slippage issue.

Re: Slip after change to Royal Purple .

You have something going on with your clutch or hydraulics, NOTHING TO DO WITH THE REAR END. They are not related in any way.

Coincidental is the bottom line.
Things were fine one day and not cool the next. There was a change made in between the slipping and non slipping event.
The Change was backed out as a logicial move even though things didn't make sense but the possibility the rear end had an issue did exist.

If the clutch wasn't adjusted properly the whole time, then yeah it will wear out alot sooner. Hope thats not the case but sounds like it

may also want to check your rear main seal to see if it's leaking.
