Shifting issues

I've noticed that when I'm accelerating from a stop, when the car shifts to
3rd it sounds as though there is a neutral in there. The car revs slightly and then hard shifts to 3rd. Also, when shifting from Rev. to Dr., there is a hesitation before the gear catches. I was told that there is a solenoid in the tranny pan that controls the shifting. It was said that if that doesn't have good pressure that the above problems will result. Is this true? Has anyone else had these issues? Thanks in advance guys.

Re: Shifting issues

Yes, there is a solenoid inside the transmission that controls the shifting, there are two of them. If you don't have enough pressure, check your oil level. My transmission sort of did this when it died. It would take a while to shift to D, and manual 2nd was more of a neutral. (but yet I snapped a band too)
