my friend shifts his to.. and downshifts i dont like to downshift my car.

What about like when your driving it around and you go into N and then you have to put it back into drive?

Does that hurt your car. or do you just have ot make sure the motor is at the right rpms to match the gear and what not then put it back into drive..

If you're driving and throw it into N to rev or something, you wanna wait for the rpms to go almost to where they should be before putting back into D. Going from N to D at higher rpms is basically neutral dropping your car, and you'll probably feel it. Doing that is like dumping the clutch in an M6, but with more possible damage to things.

humm k good so its ok to drop it into N to rev or w/e as long as you match the rpms before you put it back into gear..

My friend will N drop his car.. i tell him its bad but he doesnt listen lol.

Also wont shifting your auto help you track times? I know some people will say it helps and it seems to give more of a kick and it the peedle is more responsive..and it feels like the motor responds better

BAM!

No matter how much u want to believe that u control the shifts in ur A4, u don't. Ur computer does. All u can do by shifting is hold it in gear longer, which i see little purpose in.

Yep, the computer will shift your car at the red line when u have your foot all the way down, its all computer controlled. No real purpose of manual shifting, if u do stay in it longer than the computer would have your gonna hit the rev limiter if ya still got one.

My Vortech supercharged 94Z has an A4 in it. I never take it out of OD. I even race it at the track in OD. I see no need to manually shift it when the computer can do a much better job than myself

I'll move this over to the Drivetrain forum...
