Shifter flex at WOT?

Okay i just picked up a 98 m6 so i'm new to the whole m6 feel (not that i haven't driven standard before). At WOT it seems that the shifter will move slightly with the torque of the car, i can still shift fine, theres no slapping, grinding or signs that anything is wrong. Is this normal?

Yeah, a bit of movement is normal. Figure you've got the torque arm bolted to the back of the tranny, so that's going to (attempt to) "lift" the back of the tranny when you really lay into the throttle. The only thing that will allow/prevent that movement is the tranny mount. Depending on the mileage on your car, maybe it's time to look at replacing the original mount? You "can" upgrade to a poly mount, but be forewarned that they are famous for causing (or making noticeable) extra vibrations in the drivetrain of your car, and they may become annoying to you. If you think the play/movement is too much, then just buy a NEW LS1 tranny mount, and be done with . If the shifter still moves the same, then I guess you accomplished nothing, but if it's a little better, then obviously the original mount was getting worn .

Yup, perfectly normal with a Manual tranny car for the shifter to move around as you drive the car.

You can also get a tunnel mount for the torque arm. i have a poly mount and I still see a little flex, albeit less then before I did the swap.
