Transgo is a little more expensive but it seems the overall consensus favors them.

Re: Shift Kit

Is it a bad idea to install a shift kit on a car with 95K but seems to have no shifting problems?

I have a Hypertech programmer for my 94Z to correct the speedo and I did firm the shifting but it seems that the computer tones down the shifting after some drive time when I have reset the shift points while playing around at the track.

Basicly, after a day or two the car will not chirp 2nd unlike right after I have had the programmer hooked up. So with that said, I would like to have a shift kit but scared to, with 95K on the car.

Depends on who you talk to. I spoke with one of the tranny guys on this board and he seemed to prefer the B&M kit, which is what I ended up opting for. Right, wrong or indifferent, I also agreed with the guys at my local speed shop who reminded me that B&M has been in the tranny business a LONG time ... doesn't mean they're perfect, but I can't honestly say I've had a PROBLEM with my tranny since installing the kit, although the shifts are DIFFERENT, and have sort of "concerned" me, but the tranny hasn't died yet?! I've read too many horror stories on this board about the 4L60E though, so whether it's got a kit or not, I'm afraid of mine blowing up at any time!! I just hope it happens close to home?!

Re: Shift Kit

Yeah, thanks for all the replies, I think I'm going to go with the B&M Transpac shift kit. I've heard pretty good thoughts about it. And, I have 100,000 on my car and no one has told me otherwise, they all think I should put a shift kit in, thanks again.

Re: Shift Kit

B&M has been bought & sold a few times over the years, and from what I have seen, they have not made a somewhat decent valve body kit since the mid 1970's. Trans-Go is still run by its original founder in 1959, and they constantly upgrade their products, "and" offer technical help. I could go on, but this will suffice.

Most people wouldn't say otherwise because they wouldn't have to deal with the repercussions. I made a comment to a buddy about throwing the .560/.560 lift cam in the TA till I got the IROC done, and he said "hell yeah, go for it". So you can draw your own conclusion, the TA has 150k on it and has had a piston and rod put in. And its on its 3rd or 4th trans rebuild. Did the cam go in?
