Replace short block / engine in 95 z28

Found a 95 Z28 with rod knock for my Son.
Have a 72 350 out of a Camaro all rebuilt sitting in a Jeep.
Is the 72 engine compatible with the 95 Z?
Short block, long block, starter mount, heads, etc....

Thanks

Short answer.... no. Your best bet is to just find another LT1. Pretty much the only thing compatible is the rotating assembly.

You can put a Gen I small block in a 4th gen F-body w/o a big problem.

You just have to recognize you can't use the 95's computer unless you have the cam position signal from the Optispark. Or you need to put the cam position optical module in the Gen 1 SBC distributor. If you are satisfied with a carb and conventional distributor, you don't need the computer.

Or you could get the manifold and injection/computer off a 3rd Gen MPFI engine.
