rearend question

rearend question

i just replaced my rear wheel bearings and i was putting everything back together and when i went ot put the differential pinion gear shaft back and the hole isent lined up anymore

anybody know how to line it back up??

Are you talking about the shaft that slides into the carrier hold the axles apart, which you thread that little bolt into to hold it? If you are, I simply eyeballed the alignment, then tapped it into place. I then used a small, thin punch to go in through the bolt hole and tapped that punch until it was lined up and I could get the bolt in. Hopefully thats what you were talking about.

yeah im talking about that same shaft but my problem is that the shaft itself cant go back in because somthing insdie there moved so it looks like a half moon instead of a round hole ...........i have pics if anyone here is interested in helping me

I'm sorry, but I am having trouble visualizing it. You are talking about the pinion shaft? Pics would help. Worth a thousand words and all that............
