rear end and tires question...

i haev the car in my sig with all stock rear end, and 275/40/17s. it needs new rear tires soon and i was thinking about these tires called from Fuzion. ive never heard of them but every review i read was really good, any ways... if i was to have slicks on my car or any drag tire, with the numbers im at right now and then when i have nitrous in a few months, will the stock rear end be fine? it has 3.43 gears or w/e the exact decimal is. anyways i plan on puttin a taller gear in later but i want to know how well the stock rear end can handle a hard launch. will it be very liable to just snap the gears or should it hold up pretty well?...thanks

Re: rear end and tires question...

The stock rear axle with the M6 was not 3.42 in the 1993 cars. It was either:

M28 T56, with 3.36 1st gear and 2.73 (GU2) rear axle, or
M29 T56, with 2.97 1st gear and 3.23 (GU5) rear axle.

With really sticky tires, and nitrous, and a hard launch with an M6, its probably 50/50 on whether its going to break something in the stock rear. Avoid 5K clutch dumps and don;t spray off the line, and it will probably last longer. Its a crap shoot..... some people make it to the 10's with a stocker, others grenade it with bolt-ons and street tires.

Re: rear end and tires question...

ok. the guy i bought it from said he thougth it was a 3.43 rear end and i figured that was the tallest one you can get of coarse but i guess thats not. i think i will have a window switch at like 3k for the nitrous, so about what would i want to be launching at if i wanted minimal spin and then have my shot right when i will be able to without spinning? is it gona be more or lesstrial and error?thanks
