thinking about beef 'N up the Trans... suggestions?
well my 383 has been in for a while now and it will Haul A$$. Reading some posts on here stock trannys will not hold up to the power of a 383... i do not want to wait till the last min when my trans is totaly trashed to rebuild it. What full rebuild kits do you guys suggest? I think i would also like to go w/ a kit that includes a shift kit.
P.S. Now that we can pull Vids from JONEZ_Z camera there will be many many vids to come to this list

Frank Cahill (he posts regularly on here) builds some great 4L60E's from what I hear. I think he calls his business Cahill Performance Transmissions...Do a search on his name in the Drivetrain section...
Also, I've heard nothing but positive feedback regarding Finish Line Performance's (FLP) Level 4 4L60E...Seems to hold up very nicely to some serious power levels and abuse at the dragstrip...They are actually only 45 minutes away from me and that is what I will be going with when I replace my original 4L60E in my LT1 later this year... www.flp2win.com
Good luck,
Mike

Would you rather buy once and get it right or save money with a cheaper version only to have to have it rebuilt again since it didn't end up holding up? Not saying there are not anymore good auto trans out there, but it is hard to find someone who knows how to build the 4L60E properly. But you definitely get what you pay for...
I stand by my guns...FLP or CPT seem to be the best...

I can't really suggest any "rebuild kits" or "shift kits". When we do a race rebuild, we source our parts from various manufacturers. We use Raybestos frictions in some clutch packs, and Borg-Warner in others. We use many products from Sonnax Ind. and Fairbanks, also.
A good "race" 4L60E will require much more than a "shift kit". There's a few other weak areas and short comings that need to be addressed in these transmissions.
