will a rear end from a 3rd gen (iroc) bolt in to a 4th gen or does it need modifications?

Re: rear end swap ?

There are differences in the brakes and parking brake, but they are otherwise the same (with the exception of the 9 bolt)

Re: rear end swap ?

third gen is 4 inches shorter, so wheels won't fit........

Re: rear end swap ?

The spring, shock, torque arm and panhard rod mounts are identical. The brake mounts will be different. The e-brake provisions will be different. There will not be a sensor (or sensors) for ABS/TCS. The brakes may be so far inboard that you could have problems with them being too close to things like the jounce bumpers, although that's maybe overly cautious.

There's a dimensioned drawing on the Strange site that shows the difference is 3" in overall width. You could use a 1.5" bolt on adapter (like the ones from Skulte Performance, not smiple plates) for the wheels.

Fred according to this, skulte makes the 2 inch adapter for that purpose...

I understand that the difference may be 2"... I'm just pointing out that when Strange builds "bolt-in" rears for the 3rd Gen, they make them 3" narrower than the ones for the 4th Gen. It would seem worthwhile to investigate the correct number.

Re: rear end swap ?

the difference is between 3" and 4", but if he does it, he will need to verify on the car, for wheel fitment
