Really shaky since I got new clutch...

I got a Spec III back in October and have put about 3k miles on since then. One thing I have noticed that I thought would go away is the amount my car shakes when I'm engaging the clutch. It feels really uncomfortable. I also noticed somewhat of a rattling when I was lying under my car after I finished slave install. It sounded like it was coming from the tranny/bellhousing area. Is this clutch chatter? Fill me in.

I have the SPEC stage 3 carbon/kevlar hybrid disk and my car shakes and chatters as you describe. I have a little over 4,000 miles on mine now and I will tell you that you have to relearn how to drive the car with that clutch. My 96 Z28 has a stock clutch and when I go drive the 95 Z with the SPEC clutch it takes me 20 minutes to get used to that clutch with it's chatter and extreme grip. Give it a couple more thousand miles and it will calm down a little more.

I have the SPEC Stage III w/ ceramic disk and their light weight FW and I can assure you that it will never go away entirely. I probably have 20k on mine and it still chatters at very low rpms. It seems to be particularly noticable in reverse (like backing out of the garage) and in stop and go traffic when you're trying to "slip" it. Of course the trade off is how well it holds. I only put 5k miles a year on it so i can certainly live with it but if I was driving it daily I would change it out for something more friendly.
