Question question for A4 guys

When you guys race do you start from first gear and move to second then D or do you just leave it on D, or do you use the overdrive gear? It seems that the overdrive gear pulls harder then the regular D.???

Re: question for A4 guys

Put it in the normal drive gear with o/d and drive it. The computer can shift it much better than you.

D is fine.Just don't use OD at the strip-- it will be short lived on a stock tranny.
If ya want it to shift at a different RPM,get it programed into your computer and then "stab it and steer"

Re: question for A4 guys

put it in regular d and go... not o/d. regular d is the same as o/d except it uses an extra band in 2nd for extra holding power. DONT shift it like a manual. the 4l60e's cant handle it and it will create too much line pressure.

Re: question for A4 guys

What do you guys mean leave don't put it in O/D but leave it in drive...

I have 1,2,3,D, so what would you guys recommend for daily driving AND the track? Is 3 supposed to be Drive and D=O/D?

Re: question for A4 guys

I just leave it in 3, point it and flash it.

Re: question for A4 guys

Camaros have 1, 2, d, and o/d... Firebirds must be different, but yes, 3 is the dame as d... your "d" is really o/d. Put it in 3 at the track and go. For daily driving I just use o/d unless im racin from a stop light or something... then i throw it in d.

Re: question for A4 guys

If you have the 4L60E for 94+ cars you put it in 3rd or "D".

If you have a 700R4 with a raised redline like me, you need to manually shift it 1-2-3 in order to get it to shift at 7000rpm instead of 5700.

Re: question for A4 guys

No, you don't manualy shift a 4L60e... you change the shift points if you dont want it to shift at 5700 or put the manual kit in and do ALL the shifting ALL the time.

EDIT: Sorry... I forgot you said 700r4.... I'm pretty sure it's just the 4L60e that you can't shift.
