Re: t56 swap wiring .. car wont crank .. heres pics.
is it trying to start, or is it just nothing?
the park selector off the auto did you push it up and secure it(so it thinks it's in park)
did ya setup a clutch switch?
also what did ya do with the old shifter I'm looking for one?(pm me if ya still got it.

Double check and make sure that the wires that you connected are the 12 guage wire. I think I remember them being the two largest gauged wires. Since mine is a 93 I think they were orange and brown. Another thing to check is the cable that is connected to the A4 shifter. That is the cable that keeps you from starting went you are not it park of neutral. The other end of the cable is connected to the ignition switch on top of the steering column. I just removed mine but you might just have to pull on it and try and start and keep going until it starts. I hope this helps

the one I did I pushed that lockout(P/N) cable all the way in, then taped it up so it would come out, if it does then the car don't start.
on the other note, the wires your showing the the first picture,
what where those connected to?
just trying to trace down the wires,
has your pcm been reprogrammed? to remove the auto tables and codes?

When i was wiring mine this is what a guy told me to do and this is from the auto shifter connector.
So if I understand everything right all the wiring is under the console for the brake lights, reverse lights, hatch release and clutch switch.
I will extend the yellow and brown wires to the clutch switch
and I will extend the brown and green wires from the console to the new reverse light plug that I bought to go into the trans.

Re: t56 swap wiring .. car wont crank .. heres pics.
I think you have the wrong wires connected. I think you need to connect the first wire from the left in your first picture to the large wire next to it that you haven't cut. The green wire and the brown wire you have cut are for the reverse lights. The orange wire and the black and white striped wire to the right of it are connected together so your hatch release will work.
The large wire you havn't cut is almost certainly one of the wires for the clutch.
The cable to the ignition switch only controls turning the switch so that shouldn't have any effect on the starter.
Try connecting different wires.

Re: t56 swap wiring .. car wont crank .. heres pics.
Starting from the left. I would connect the first two wires for the clutch switch. The second two wires are for the reverse lights. The last two are for the hatch release. No garantees but I think that is the way they go.
