Quality of 3.73 vs 4.10

I asked someone for advice on which gears to buy(3.73 or 4.10).
And their reply was 3.73, because they were a better quality.
Anybody heard of this or have any comments?

Ive had 2 sets of 4.10's and they both ended up whining. Im now saving for a 12 bolt. My advice is to do the same, or stick with the 3.42's. Its not worth it. You either loose traction, or break stuff, unless you upgrade.

That makes no sense. Gears are made of various materials and obviously vary as well in quality of maching, heat treating, inspection, etc. But there is nothing inherent in a 3.73 v. a 4.10 that directly relates to quality. The only thing I can think of that supports that idea is that race gear states are often not made in low ratios. However, you don't want to use a race gear set on the street anyway.
