PROBLEM not shifting HELP

I have a 383 just built....just went to drive it the first time today went out and it seems like it only has first gear...and it tries to shift I think but free revs. I did get what felt like second but only after i gave her some good rpms like 4500 to 5000...Its a brand new transmission does have a 2 yr 50k warantee. I have a 3000 stall converter in it also that is new. I am trying to figure out how to figure out whats goin on any help is much appreciated thanks in advance

Re: PROBLEM not shifting HELP

The VSS, as the name implies, reports vehicle speed to the PCM. Since the auto trans shift tables in the PCM use vehicle speed as one of the inputs, the lack of a VSS signal results in a no-shift condition. It also explains why your speedo doesn't work. If I had to guess, I'd say the wiring got damaged during the install.
