94 Z28 Auto - When I stomp it and it downshifts 2 gears, it pops and makes "missing sounds". When I manually shift gear by gear to redline, no problem so I am ruling out the Opti for now. It happened on the freeway and after the "popping" it had no power. I pulled over backed up and was off again no problem. Normal passing gear OK. Odd, thought it was feul or electric problem but now I'm think trans solenoid or something? HELP

 

I wouldnt rule out the opti. I have heard of optis being the cause of what you described, mostly in the early stages of their death.
