doesnt happen very often but when it does, I hate it. Why does my car just pop out of third gear for no reason? I just hope its not the tranny, I can deal with the clutch, but not the expense of a new tranny/rebuild.

NOTE: A broken clutch pedal return spring wouldnt cause this would it?

 

It sounds like you have a bad 3rd gear syncro. Maybe time for a tranny rebuild.

 

Mine did the same thing it would pop out of third as I was letting the clutch out. Once it was in gear it would not pop out only as I was letting the clutch out.

The teeth on third gear were rounded and had to be replaced.

 

I DONT KNOW IF YOU HAVE A SHORT SHIFTER BUT THAT DID THAT SAME THING ON MY OLD CAR....MAKE SURE IF U HAVE A SHORT SHIFTER THAT UR ADJUSTMENT SCREW IS OUT ENOUGH...? I DONT KNOW
