please help, can't get tranny to come out

I have been trying to pull the tranny in my 97 ws6 all night, I have it "hanging by a thread" and if feels like it could almost fall but it just won't let loose. It is split almost an inch from the block but it just won't come any further. Any suggestions?? I don't have a lift, I am just using jack stands so that makes it more difficult.

If we only knew what type of transmission it is...

The most common problem with pulling a manual is that people don't release the clutch fork from the throwout bearing.

There's no bell bolt at 12 o'clock on an LT1.

sorry I forgot to mention that it is a manual, long night in the garage. I am guessing I didn't release the clutch fork...I just took off the clutch master cyl/slave setup (unless that is what you ment)

I oculd almost sping the tranny in a circle and it is very wobbley so it can barely be on there, the front of the bellhousing is even with, or a hair past, the back side of the ringgear on the flywheel.

You have to reach in and pull the fork off the throwout bearing. Once you do that, the transmission will come out.

yup you should be able to do it with one finger, just stick your finger in there and pull away from the trans towards drivers side of car

It looks like you are trying to remove the trans and bellhousing as a unit. I have always taken the trans off the bellhousing first and then the bellhousing off the block.

go inside and check the hole that the shifter came through. Seems to when i did it the tranny was catching there and I had to bend some of the sheet metal out of the way.
