Pinion Seal How-To?

I know that most shops simply re-torque the pinion nut to 150 ft/lbs after swapping the seal, and it seems that 99% of the time this method works fine.
Does anyone have a link to a how-to for this procedure? I'm dealing with a low-mileage, un-abused car, so I don't expect any complications like a worn seal surface or a spent bearing.

Thanks for any help,
Rick
